Free Mom Hugs is looking for volunteers to support Affirmations Youth Pride Prom 2026. We will need folks to help with location setup, day of logistics and volunteering (registration, chaperone presence in different venue spaces, and cleanup/teardown after the event). There may be initial setup happening on Thursday, May 7th and the event itself will be on Friday, May 8th. We may need volunteers for both days. This event will be collaboratively led by PFLAG Detroit, Free Mom Hugs, and staff/volunteers from Affirmations of Ferndale. There may need to be an additional background check completed by Affirmations for all volunteers from FMH and PFLAG Detroit.

In Support of Free Mom Hugs
Free Mom Hugs is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works to empower the world to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community through visibility, education and conversation. Born of one Oklahoma mom’s simple act of wearing a homemade Free Mom Hugs button to a Pride festival, today Free Mom Hugs has more than 50,000 volunteers, chapters in all 50 states, and affiliate chapters around the world.
Free Mom Hugs volunteers give hugs and go beyond the hug, too. Our volunteers give hugs at events and other gatherings and further support and affirm LGBTQIA+ individuals through public education and outreach. Free Mom Hugs actively partners with brands, companies and organizations to support our chapters and initiatives including chapter programs, events and education.
All donations are made to Free Mom Hugs, a national nonprofit organization, and may be used to support local, regional, or national programming.
